Wainuiomata Playcentre were one of the recipients of our 2020 grants.  Wainuiomata Playcentre is a parent-led early learning centre, that has been supporting the Wainuiomata Community for many years.

They cater for the needs of pre-school children from ages 0-6. Parents are directly involved in the session planning and management of the Playcentre, with a supervisor that supports the sessions. They have a range of cultures, and run a bilingual session to keep our commitment to Te Kananga Maori.

The money received from this grant was used to purchase a new bench seat. They are working to make the playground more inviting for Tamāriki and hope the seat will encourage children’s imaginary play and act as a quiet place to sit with an adult. The seat remembers those that have moved on, and benefits the new generation of Tamāriki that attend.
